If you follow the news section of the site, you may have noticed we recently posted a gaming-inspired trailer (2 versions) called A Space Game Concept. We also mentioned in the news section coverage that we will follow this up with a blog post detailing the process and showcasing more of the artwork and graphic design that went into it and this includes samples that did not make the cut in the videos. The trailer and overall idea behind it was inspired partly by a retro PC game's introduction, Black Moon Chronicles, which you can watch here. Here are the two versions of the trailer we created - with the top one below being more recent and in-depth: The main creator of the trailer above is our founder Maciej Duraj and he detailed the process briefly with some of the artwork that went into it on his personal blog here. Here is the text he created or the storyline from scratch: The eye of the beholder knows no bounds. Mists rise and fall into the coldness of deep space as eons pass... This is an omnipresence that took down entire otherworldly civilizations in its quest for power and exists in a dimension unknown to man. However, in this alternate dimension, there exists portals to the world of humanity. The world of mankind. And through these portals some have tasted its power. Some humans who hold the power of magic, or skills beyond the grasp of the average man, know of its existence. These people are almost mythical in nature and largely unknown. They call themselves the Spectre. They call this otherworldly power the demigod or Gogiel. They have held the secrets to its existence for centuries and worship this demigod in secret. With this power of magic, they have changed the course of human history many times throughout the ages. However, they are not the only ones who tap into unseen forces and know of this demigod’s existence. Warriors of light or goodness also exist that know of it. They have their own power they tap into that is the opposing force of Gogiel. A yin and yang that exists in the outer-dimension and which transforms space and time. Their source of power and magical abilities is known as the sleepless one or Szekir. Their time now rises and this is their story... Please note that some of the images below did not go into the two versions of the trailer posted above. However, they may be used some way in the future within the project or others. Here are some of the artwork and graphic design as well as pixel art that went into making this project: We changed some of the design below once we imported it into a Pixel Art Maker app on iPad and saw that some of the detail was lost. Thus, we added a sphere of sorts on top, some cosmetic changes to the nose and mouth and ran it through different filters and variations: Maciej went farther into some of the pixel samples after putting them into an iPad app called something like Pixel Art Maker. he then added to them additionally by stylus or the Apple Pencil and later in Illustrator via filters. If you notice, some of them have this scanline CRT TV look that is popular amongst many retro gamers. Check out the variations below: We have used an effect to get the pixel art to appear like it is disintegrating or moving farther out with the video. Here are these samples we used: As you see, we have a wide range of samples above. We uploaded these at lower resolutions (960x540) so they would load on this page quicker for your views, however we also have higher red and even vector files at our disposal. If you are interested in any of these graphics or the trailer above, please do not hesitate to contact us and we can work together on a new project or license any of the graphics to your disposal if you are interested.
