Sketching or illustrating humans is never an easy task, especially doing it purely on a tablet from inception and not just tracing or scanning an image onto a device. It is not easy getting fingers right, grips with the hand, shading, body proportions and many other cafeats, hence why abstract and Picasso style illustrations are popular and all the rage now.
What I did was take a previous drawing or illustration that I created using Procreate on the iPad (as you see below) and added a background and other elements to it and revised some aspects of it:
You may have seen these two versions of the digital illustration I did on Procreate in the illustrations section of the site. There is also another version without the noise filter, but I feel having these two versions is enough and you can visit the page to see the third version.
In my last blog post, I also showcased a nature illustration that was done entirely on the iPad and decided to use one version of it for the backdrop. I took the female nursing or doctor form I had at my disposal and also used the brand new Illustrator app for the iPad with the pen tool to give her a stroke outline. You can see some of the results below:
I used my Stegna coastline nature piece by combining and mirroring it in a two-sided symmetry in order to create a widescreen backdrop. However, I also created new versions of the design and they are up already (you can see on the Illustrations page) and I may create a new blog post soon showcasing this work (note: I’ve decided to write a brief news post as an update of the new designs). Here is a brief glimpse:
I also have had some widescreen images that I plan to use as hero or feature images, if nothing else maybe widescreen logos, for Wordpress, with women doing a variety of things to showcase the female form and power behind it. However, they are still a work in progress.
The version of the female holding the pen and pad above is one of the forms. Here are the others (have been in the Illustrations page for a while) and I will update this blog post and the Illustrations page as I keep updating these designs:
Added some text for a website header image or logo idea:
I am currently working on finishing one pair of shoes on the middle image above so expect to see it soon. Keep checking in to see new versions or variants of any images you see on the site as I update this blog post and the portfolio pages of the site.
When looking at the women above engage in various roles, it may seem confusing but I got the ideas for these roles from a client who is starting a female empowerment type or a business and needed a website done I am helping her with. The overall theme can be summarized as female empowerment, or feminism in a nutshell, as the women are doing a wide range of tasks or participating in often male oriented jobs and careers within the images. Here are some other designs I have created from these female forms:
For a bit of a contrast, below are some masculine designs I have created from a photograph that I am in of a wrestling class I sometimes to to and train at:
Here is the latest version of the landscape hero image or banner piece with shoes filled this time (one of the versions, within the puzzle piece, is still experimental and was done via Illustrator and imported into Photoshop):
