New Horse Rider & Manual Laborer Digital Illustrations

There has been a lot of updates since the last blog post, however Weebly has been acting really funny, so we were not able to update the blog. However, these problems seem to have been fixed. We also have been adding many different graphic designs to the news section and even added a new news post related to graphic design with the themes of robotics and quantum mechanics, which we will showcase with a wide range of revisions in an upcoming blog post.

I have updated three older digital illustrations that started as pixel art in two cases and a hand-made drawing in the third. Below are some of the new versions worth taking a look at (the last is just a variation of third with Van Gogh’s Starry Night theme).
The first image is that of a manual laborer or the theme of manufacturing, which I call the Day Laborer series. I will post the latest versions (also in rotating image above) and if you keep reading, I will also show you the older revisions of the images below, so that you see how they started out as pixel art and the changes made over time. The second image is also part of this series, but combines two different pixel art ideas into later final images. The third and fourth images are part of the Horse Rider or Lone Warrior series.

Let us start out analyzing the first image and how it changed over time with revisions. Keep your eye on how I moved the logs so they rest on the shoulder, but originally created the graphic as the laborer holding them above his head in pixel art and as an Illustrator filter.

Old versions that were refined and fixed with log moved, hand created on top, eyes, face and other changes you will see missing below:
I also have another version I fixed, where the logs and hand positioning was totally off. You can see that second version in the rotating image above. The way I created it was originally combining the figure above in pixel art with the background scene in pixel art and creating the third figure or worker separately with a raster-based digital application I inserted the pixel art in as layers and ran filters to. Here it is again with older versions below:

Older versions including the pixel art that was combined as layers:
The overall idea was manufacturing and manual labour being replaced by automation such as robotics and artificial intelligence.
As mentioned, another image was fixed and it is from the Lone Warrior or Horse Rider series. I took out the bridge as it sort of was forced or shoehorned in from an older pencil drawing I creared a few years ago. I think the version without the bridge works better. I had the old versions before these chsnges in the portfolio and illustration page on the site, but have added these versions recently. Here are the latest variants:

I tried to make it look like there is a body of water or a sea under the horizon, but it is hard to tell snd sort of blended with the sky. Either way, I think it came out better withiut the bridge, but it took a lot of trial and error replacing the area around it.
Here are some older versions as you can see the progress made:
Even older versions:
